Cyberculture

The collection of cultures and cultural products that exist on and/or are made possible by the Internet, along with the stories told about these cultures and cultural products. This includes methods of adapting/representing aspects of older cultures to electronic (especially text-based) communication.

"The Resource Center for Cyberculture Studies is an online, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to research, study, teach, support, and create diverse and dynamic elements of cyberculture. Collaborative in nature, RCCS seeks to establish and support ongoing conversations about the emerging field, to foster a community of students, scholars, teachers, explorers, and builders of cyberculture, and to showcase various models, works-in-progress, and on-line projects. A book-of-the-month section featuring extensive book reviews of cyberculture-related titles; A set of links to over 90 online syllabi for college/university-level courses on cyberculture, virtual communities, and new technologies; An extensive annotated bibliography revolving primarily around the topics of virtual communities, community networks, and virtual identities."

The Internet Public Library is a public library for the world wide web.
Students from a consortium of colleges and universities with programs in information science develop and maintain the IPL!
